Labor & Employment Counsel-Legal Duties: Works independently to provide legal advice and direction to the entire health system. Will provide advice to HR on policies, procedures, and routine labor matters. Will educate HR and managers on procedures that conform with the law. Will also represent the entities in the health system in employment litigation matters and oversee the use of outside counsel for such matters.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree. 5+ years of experience in the practice of law in a healthcare organization and/or a law firm dealing with labor and employment issues ranging from day-to-day HR advice to management of labor litigation. Admission to the California Bar to practice law. 7-12 years of experience in the health care industry preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills to give appropriate legal advice while understanding and anticipating the impact and opportunities across the health system. Ability to apply judgment and confidentiality in the handling of sensitive information. Proven experience providing advice regarding labor and employment law in California. Strong oral and written communication skills. Intermediate or advanced computer, spreadsheet, & database skills.
