Health and Benefits and Compliance Consultant The candidate will be responsible for managing the completion and delivery of client engagements, serving as a strategic advisor to clients concerning their compliance issues and assisting with the development of new business. Will be working both directly with clients and in coordination with our broader Health and Benefits practice, as well as our Technical Services Group and Retirement practices. This would be under the supervision of a senior compliance attorney within the practice. Also be asked to participate in the overall development of the practice. Meet chargeable and/or other related compliance hours target. Contribute to sales and marketing efforts by supporting compliance team. Identify opportunities to cross-sell new products and services. Build relationships with internal and external sources to maximize the penetration of key target accounts. Partner with colleagues to support multiple client projects involving health and welfare benefit plan design and strategy and federal, state and local compliance issues. Develop client deliverables in coordination with consultants and senior consultants. Play a supportive role in ensuring projects meet established budget, timeline and quality standards. Research various compliance and tax issues, draft responses and memoranda and assist client meetings and presentations. Participate on compliance audits and benefits administration/process improvement reviews. Assist with the preparation of presentations and reports on changing laws and the impact on employers and their benefit plans. Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels. Partner with colleagues to manage multiple client projects involving health and welfare benefit plan design and strategy and federal, state and local compliance issues. Finalize and present quality deliverables to clients. Ensure projects meet established budget, timeline and quality standards. Assist with the preparation of presentations and reports on changing laws and the impact on employers and their benefit plans. Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels. Serve as health and welfare compliance subject matter expert on client assignments. Perform technical review of deliverables. Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches related to compliance consulting. Demonstrate leadership ability by mentoring analysts. Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams. Oversee analysts in the delivery of compliance projects. A Juris Doctorate required and 6 years relevant experience within employee benefits. Must have proven experience and success in employee health and welfare benefit consulting with a focus on compliance. Prior experience in a professional services firm, insurance company or legal environment preferred. should have knowledge of IRC, ERISA and other relevant laws and regulations affecting employee benefit plans. Material client-facing experience with public speaking experience a plus. Experience in managing multiple individuals and project work streams and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget is needed. Should have proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenges.
