ProfileStaff Attorney - Employment Law The candidate will provide legal advice and consult on a variety of legal matters including, but not limited to, employee relations, employee benefits, and labor and employment matters. (e.g. performance management, employee discipline, termination, workplace investigations, policy development, FLSA, FMLA, wage and hour issues, workplace accommodations, applications, training, and the protection of intellectual property, trade secrets and confidential information). Assist the agency staff in understanding legal aspects and risks of issues encountered in the conduct of their business. Draft, analyze, and review legal documents, including contracts, regarding employment matters (e.g. employee benefit contracts, employee applications, policies and procedures). Investigate and evaluate the legal implications and impact of legal compliance issues, and recommend operational changes or alternative practices, processes, policies and/or procedures. Assist, as needed, with litigation management, including coordination with outside counsel and applicable insurance carriers. Assist with protecting the interests of WWP by managing risk, liability, and financial exposure. Assist with managing relationships with insurers. Develop, monitor, and evaluate policies, processes and procedures to support risk management efforts. Work on projects that assist the Human Resources (HR) team. Stay up-to-date on employment law developments to ensure compliance. Assist with other transactional matters as requested. A Juris doctorate degree and bar admission and 3+ years of employment law experience required. In-house, transactional/contracts, and/or nonprofit experience preferred. Law review and journal experience preferred. Basic understanding: of employment law, including employee relations, employee benefits and labor and employment; of transactional law, including contracts, waivers, insurance, and/or intellectual property required. Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and professional manner required. Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and effectively handle multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required. Working knowledge of Westlaw, LexisNexis, and advanced business knowledge and excellent written and oral communications skills required.
