Assistant General Counsel The candidate will identify employment law issues, counsel HR colleagues, management, and other members of the legal department. Will draft, review and negotiate relevant documents; handle EEOC complaints and manage outside litigation counsel; keep abreast of changes in local, state and federal employment laws; and assist with other legal matters affecting the York organization. Working with the human resources department and other members of the legal department on employee relations, employment policies, recruiting issues, disputes, job classifications, benefits, agreements and affirmative action. Researching legal issues related to employment law and other areas of the law as needed. Providing legal counsel to management and other members of the legal department related to employment matters and other matters that arise. Assisting in drafting company employment policies, contracts, and other documents. Acting on behalf of the General Counsel as directed by the General Counsel. Evaluating risks and rewards in our human capital relationships. Evaluating the consequences of alternative courses of conduct, taking into account the immediate matter and broader ramifications beyond the immediate matter at hand, using legal training, knowledge of the business, and input from the General Counsel.

Qualification and Experience

Should have Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts or equivalent work experience; Juris Doctor degree; licensed to practice law in the one or more relevant jurisdictions. Should have 5+ years of relevant experience. Should have significant employment law knowledge, talent for issue-spotting, and savvy to see beneath the surface of issues. Litigation or contract drafting experience is essential. Knowledge of HIPAA is essential. Should have technical Skills. Should have information gathering, analytical skills, and proficiency in systems are required. Should have 5-8 years of employment law counseling experience.
