Senior Patent Counsel The selected candidate will be responsible for all phases of patent preparation and prosecution for portions of firm’s global patent portfolio. The candidate will hold responsibility for a portfolio of new and pending applications. Will be reviewing invention disclosures. Consulting with inventors and engineering managers. Drafting provisional and non-provisional US patent applications. Preparing responses to US office actions. Providing detailed instructions to outside foreign patent counsel for prosecution of foreign counterpart applications. Preparing and filing continuations, divisional, and reissue patent applications. Other responsibilities will include conducting educational sessions with inventors, assisting in the preparation of Standards Settings Organization (SSO) patent declarations, evaluating patent properties in connection with potential acquisitions and divestitures, and assisting licensing and litigation teams in assertion efforts.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 3-6 years of patent attorney OR patent agent experience. Must have experience preparing and prosecuting US and foreign patent applications in high technology fields obtained through work at a reputable law firm and/or through in-house positions. Must have a JD degree from an accredited law school and membership in good standing from at least one State Bar. Must have Registration to practice before the USPTO. Must have BS degree or higher degree in electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, or another closely related technology area relevant to firm’s business concerns. Previous engineering work experience within the wireless communications field is a plus.
