ProfilePatent Counsel Responsibilities : The candidate will be assuring that firm is protecting its technology investments by actively participating in the process of obtaining patent protection for firm innovations. This is accomplished through advice and counsel to Business Unit clients on patent filing and acquisition, invention identification and harvesting, invention disclosure submissions, and prosecution of applications. Instructing and directing Outside Counsel to insure compliance with firm guidelines. Will team with other members of the legal team on assorted intellectual property related matters, such as assertions, patent portfolio valuation and assessment in the course of mergers and acquisitions and/or purchases and IP licensing. Develop subject matter expertise and drive team client counseling for a specific IP active area such as participating in Standards Setting Organizations. Drive development and deployment of Patent Department policies, practices and tools.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements : The candidate should have a J.D. degree with a record of strong academic performance. A license to practice law in California required. Must have a technical undergraduate degree preferred, particularly EE or Computer Science degree and 2 plus years of experience. Must be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Must have experience in the high tech industry and familiarity with computer systems, architectures, programming, Virtual Reality or Artificial Intelligence. Demonstrate a real passion for innovation, technology and learning.
