Director, Corporate Counsel The candidate will serve as primary legal lead for two key business functions within the company. This role partners with the OBT team, and provides end-to-end support to the Hotel team, and is additionally member of the Hotel’s Leadership Team. Envision the design, implementation, execution and improvement of the hotel’s contracting processes and oversight for issues arising from these business pillars, who are driving and implementing projects to pursue hotel’s digital strategy and objective to become the first digital travel management company. Primary responsibility for overseeing various legal issues associated with the Hotel business pillar, which includes the company’s relationships with Hotel program clients and suppliers at a global level, and in regional markets to the extent required. Collaborate closely with legal teams supporting other business functions namely customer & markets, global supplier management (airlines, rail, ground transportation etc) and products & technology. Primary lead for drafting, reviewing and negotiating Hotel, as well as Technology Partners (OBT) commercial contracts at a global level and in regional markets, and providing support to and collaborating with business and legal teams working on global distribution systems and third party channels where needed. Legal support provided on an as needed basis in other business areas supported by the Strategy & Corporate Functions Legal Team (Strategy & Commerce (including third party channels, e-commerce and marketing), global HR, Traveler Services, Finance). Key executor for contract processing to achieve greater efficiencies and develop innovative ideas to execute transactions. Provide thought leadership for legal matters at the company relating to the Hotel business and Technology Partners, including review and design new policies and procedures to ensure greater coordination / efficiency in legal support (and technology support) for the business. Support efforts to improve workflow, including updates to company’s contracts database. Lead initiatives to anchor relationships between company’s in house legal team and business team to ensure strong relationships organically with clients and a solid customer experience, other than when emergencies / issues arise. Creatively engage with global business teams to proactively deepen responsiveness and engagement with Legal. Liaise with compliance and data privacy counterparts on commercial negotiations or other inquiries. Regularly advise business leaders and other members of the business on legal matters relating to OBT Partners and the Hotel business. Train and educate on legal matters for teams working in Hotel and OBT Partners, and provide regular updates to in-house legal team. Collaborate with Global Finance on ad hoc projects as required. Bachelor’s Degree in related field required. Juris Doctorate required. 5 – 7 years of relevant experience required. Ability: to communicate effectively verbally and in written language to a wide array of audiences; to work across boundaries in a multicultural environment; to make independent decisions and lead courageously; to break down complex data, simplify and communicate recommendations to business owners required. Strong: project management skills; organizational skills and follow through required. Experience supervising and/or leading internal investigation required.
