Privacy Program Manager Duties: Responsible for the oversight of the Privacy Program ensuring compliance with state and federal privacy laws, including the privacy component of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (the HITECH Act) of 2009. Will be responsible for monitoring changes with internal laws and regulations to ensure compliance with State and Federal privacy guidelines including but not limited to HIPAA and HITECH. Develops and implements workforce privacy training programs, conducts or oversees privacy assessments/audits (physical safeguards, HIPAA risk assesments, HIPAA Audits), responds to privacy inquiries and conducts investigations of potential privacy violations. Acts as a subject matter expert to business units on privacy matters. Will be responsible to establish, mandate and implement standard policies, procedures and best practices across the company to promote compliance with applicable privacy and security laws and contractual obligations. Will be expected to assist the business with finding solutions to privacy and data compliance issues and manage employee HIPAA/Privacy questions. The Privacy Program Manager will also at times train and supervise the work of others. Develop Privacy Policies and Procedures. Reviews legal documents (POA, Guardianship, HIPAA Release forms etc.). Demonstrate a working knowledge of government regulations that affect the organization’s HIPAA compliance implementation plan. Investigate privacy incidents and take appropriate remedial action steps. Resolve allegations of non-compliance with the Convey Health Solutions Privacy Practices. Provide leadership in the planning, design and evaluation of privacy related projects. Develop and apply appropriate corrective action procedures for failure to comply with the corporate privacy policies and procedures and government regulations or law. Establish an internal privacy audit program. Conduct HIPAA/Privacy audits of Delegated Vendors. Document and Report self-disclosures of any evidence of privacy violations. Consistently and promptly respond to specific questions that affect the HIPAA compliance implementation plan, with recommendations that are supported by applicable regulatory and/or organization policy guidance. Consistently coordinate with the appropriate administrative and support departments to adequately design an implementation plan and analyze the effects of any proposed process changes required by HIPAA. Develop and maintain, in cooperation with the training department, training material and courses to help organization staff address these regulatory changes. Inform departmental and administrative management of significant changes. Regularly coordinate the systematic reviews of the various departments’ HIPAA compliance status. Communicate with coworkers, management, staff, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner. Create a program permitting employees to submit complaints regarding the company’s privacy practices, procedures, and practices and to ensure that all complaints are handled diligently and appropriately. Initiate and promote activities to foster privacy and security awareness and compliance with in the company.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Attorney or Paralegal. HIPAA certified preferred. College degree required.
