Senior Managing Counsel, Privacy & Data Protection Duties: Manage a cross-functional team of lawyers responsible for ensuring privacy & data protection compliance while enabling business innovation utilizing privacy by design methodology; Develop and implement policies, processes and controls for the use of and access to personal data; Engage in product development processes to ensure privacy compliance is built into all information-based products and services including digital payment products, and interactive marketing programs on a worldwide basis; Oversee detailed analyses of laws, regulations, and policies impacting business units to facilitate day-to-day business operations and assist in achieving major organization goals; Negotiate complex data use contracts, agreements and arrangements with a wide range of business partners, including: issuing banks, merchants, cobrand partners, digital wallet operators, vendors and other service providers; and Provide recommendations to senior management regarding data security and risk management.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree required. Bachelor’s degree required. Privacy and data protection experience required. Member of a U.S. state Bar. Excellent managerial and leadership skills; Knowledge of global credit laws similar to the FCRA; Expertise in and track record dealing with GLBA, EU Data Protection Directive; the EU General Data Protection Regulation, PIPEDA and other global privacy and data regulatory laws and regulations; Familiarity with financial services industry and payment processing; Superior analytical skills and ability to frame complex issues and problems and seek optimal solutions that serve that allow Mastercard to succeed. Motivated self-starter with ability to excel at multi-tasking in a fast paced environment. Superior time management, planning, and organizational skills. Strong analytic capabilities, and written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail is a must. Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven experience in relationship building and partnering. Must work well in both team and individual settings.
