Senior Corporate Counsel, Global Trade Compliance The candidate will advise senior management and business segments on a wide range of complex legal and business issues related to global export control and import laws and regulations, primarily pertaining to dual-use and military thermal imaging products and technologies. Act as company point of contact for Government agency representatives of regarding subpoenas, requests for information, disclosures, commodity jurisdiction/classification requests, requests for advisory opinions and other similar matters. Work directly with internal and external legal counsel in complex investigations, providing both subject matter expertise and internal leadership for the company to ensure timely completion of investigations and disclosures. Responsible for the development of disclosures and reports required to report compliance errors to various government agencies in the U.S. and other countries. Manage trade compliance audit program and oversee completion of post-audit corrective actions and process improvements. Manage team of global trade compliance professionals with responsibility for investigations, disclosures, training, and other compliance program elements. Assist in trade compliance due diligence and integration efforts related to mergers and acquisitions. Other duties may be assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 12+ years of prior export control -related experience and expertise in EAR, ITAR, OFAC, EU Trade Regulations, global sanctions programs, and U.S. and EU Customs compliance requirements. J.D. required; language skills a plus. Prior experience managing export control issues related to ITAR Category XII and Control List category 6 is highly desired. Should have ability to interact appropriately with executive staff, segment management, senior business development managers, sales operations and other staff at all levels in multiple global locations.Must have ability to independently research and analyze legal and regulatory issues and provide clear guidance to internal clients regarding potential legal risks. Candidate must possess business acumen, including a well-developed understanding of commerce and a creative approach to risk management that includes development of alternative paths and solutions. Must be a highly-motivated self-starter with the skills and temperament to function effectively and efficiently in a highly-regulated and dynamic environment. Must be able to multi-task and to delegate effectively; requires efficiency in managing outside counsel and internal resources.Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills required.
