ProfileManaging Attorney The candidate will report to the Legal Director and be responsible for the General Supervisory Attorney responsible for supervision of Staff Attorneys, Advocacy Program Manager. Will produce results within 24 months to continue in position. Oversee Social Security and other benefits laws including representation at all levels through the U.S. Supreme Court; Education; Health Care; Employment; Housing; and related subjects such as multi-culturalism, disability abuse and service animals, media including seminars, e newsletter, training videos, and guest speaking. Overseeing legal articles, legal aspects of seminars, trainings and guest speaking. Participation in preparing reports for the meeting of the Board of Directors of firm as needed. HR for all legal staff jobs, including employment. Administration of contracts relating to all vendors. Communications, coordination and cooperation with private, public and other non-profit agencies and organizations serving target population. Must be able to attend and fulfill duties for occasional liaison meetings, which may be called without due notice. Monitor income and expenses; prepare reports relating to advocacy side of Agency.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must be licensed California Attorney. Must have 10+ years of relevant, e.g., civil rights non profit, experience. Management experience and a record of achievement in leading teams of people is needed. Experience in Social Security, employment, health care, post-secondary education and other disability rights is preferred. Proficient computer skills required, including My case, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other internet.
