Director, US Development Operations Duties: Define vision for US development and align with broader Franchise and Business strategy: generics eFTF strategy, 505(b)(2)/ value-added-medicine pipeline growth strategy by Therapeutic Area (TA), branded Gx strategy in coordination with Novartis and Alcon Align the US development strategy with all functional interfaces (e.g., franchise heads, GPMs, NTO leads, SDC leads, etc.) Oversee US development strategic and operational KPIs, including leading initiative identification and ownership assignment to ensure KPIs meet targets Lead Business Planning Processes – Strategic Planning for Pipeline: Align with Portfolio Management and BD&L on the US pipeline status within and beyond the Strat Plan timeframe; challenge both functions on quality and status of pipeline vs. strategic growth targets Maintain the US pipeline transparency tracker in cooperation with the Global Portfolio Management and US Portfolio teams, including a comprehensive view on all the active and potential projects to be used as a basis for updating the PLT (Pipeline Leadership Team). Also ensure that the globally used system (i.e. SPIRIT) is used by the team and the created transparency is also reflected in the system. Lead all strategic initiatives for US Development and all other special projects – identifying risks to successful implementation and defining mitigation actions for key strategic initiatives led by US development Act as the central contact for strategic initiatives led by other departments (e.g., NTO, SDCs) where US development is a critical stakeholder The responsibilities are included but not limited to the above.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Advanced degree such as MBA, JD Degree, MD, or PhD preferred. The candidate should bring 3-4 years of project management experience preferred, e.g., through working for a top-tier consultancy, having ideally been exposed to the Pharma or Generics industries. Superb command of Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent command of the English language. Very strong intellectual capacity, with proven ability to work on many different topics in parallel and to prioritize effectively (distinguishing urgency and importance). Excellent conceptual and analytical skills with a track record of structuring and preparing communication materials for senior executives. Excellent project and process management skills. Very high attention to detail (without losing sight of the big picture) to ensure highest quality levels at all times. Proven ability to collaborate effectively across a global, matrix company. High emotional intelligence as reflected by excellent social and interpersonal skills, a deep sense of self-awareness and self-control. Utmost level of integrity.
