ProfileVP Legal and Risk Services The candidate will advise Hospital and Health System regarding regulatory compliance matters, manage legal review and negotiations of contracts, and provide other corporate legal assistance. Will lead, plan, organize and communicate risk management activities. Direct and manage activities of outside legal counsel. Direct and manage activities of company outside legal counsel. Prosecute and defend litigation on behalf of company and its subsidiaries. Direct the management of insurance coverage for company and Medical Staff. Direct and manage risk management activities including financial performance, policy development, education, claim administration, and defense of lawsuits. Review and negotiate terms of company contracts exceeding $100,000.00, all disqualified transactions. Prepare generic contract templates as appropriate (e.g. provider contracts, HMO provider agreements). Advise Health System concerning all state and federal regulatory compliance matters (i.e. ELCRA, Civil Rights Act, TBOR, Stark II, Fraud, and Abuse, HIPAA). Provide legal support for implementation of company HIPPA compliance efforts. Assist company with Joint Commission, NCQA and other accreditation matters. Draft and/or review Health System policies and procedure with significant legal and/or regulatory impact. Advise Health System Human Resources department about all employment matters. Represent company in reimbursement denial appeals. Assist outside legal counsel with due diligence and preparation of major corporate transactions and strategic initiatives. Must have a Juris Doctor Degree. Admission to State Bar of Michigan is required. Also 3-5 years of experience in corporate health law is needed.
