Business Analyst, Purchasing Duties: Supplier and Contract Management: Will have direct contact with suppliers, have visibility with suppliers and will be responsible to prepare contracts for executive reviews. Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: BS/MS in Science or Engineering field with >2 years of work experience in biotechnology or related industries OR 3 years in management consulting or investment banking. Advanced degree (e.g., PhD, JD Degree, MD) with demonstrated interest in business OR. Operations or supply chain management background. Good analytical and modeling skills and market research capability. Strong problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and deal with ambiguity. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Conduct analysis on yearly spend data to understand top spend items and categories, vendor fragmentation, and consolidation opportunities. Meet with vendors to give them an introduction and help them better understand our growth and needs over the next few years. Communicate with new vendors to develop second sources. Conduct analysis on bidding information provided by vendors to achieve maximum cost savings. Work with scientists to understand needs for products from a scientific/technical perspective. Experience working with strategic suppliers and manage supplier relationship. Solid interpersonal skills and understanding of strategy behind each commodity strategy. Should have strong oral and written communication skills. Own supplier review material prep in collaboration with the commodity managers. Present materials at internal meetings or supplier meetings. Develop cost roadmap of each category and update the cost roadmap based on the negotiation results. Generate demand and supply planning lists and review with strategic vendors periodically to ensure on time delivery. Work with scientists to understand needs for products from a scientific/technical perspective.
