Associate General Counsel The candidate will provide support as a legal specialist in healthcare law primarily in the areas of regulatory law and business and professional contracting with an emphasis on physician contracting and transactions. Under the general supervision of the Deputy General Counsel and procedural control by the General Counsel, will conduct research within the following areas: legal precedent, investigation of facts, gathers material and prepares legal documents. Provide support to the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel by conducting research and providing material necessary to support legal proceedings, formulate policies giving advice to department directors and administrators or other pertinent legal functions of the office. Researches statutes and codes. Prepares legal documents to include briefs, pleadings, contracts, correspondence and reports. Gathers and analyzes research data such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes and other documents for education, legal advice and opinions. Investigates facts and law cases to determine course of actions. Attends hospital staff and administration committee meetings. Must have JD and a Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school (preferably with extensive study in healthcare). Should have 1+ years of progressive Corporate Law experience (preferably in healthcare). Current member of the State of Texas Bar, or eligible to be admitted within one year of employment is needed. General introductory knowledge of HIPAA, EMTALA, Stark, anti-kickback laws and regulations is essential. Knowledge of State, Federal, and Joint Commission law and regulations is must.
