Corporate Counsel Duties: Provides legal assistance to various individuals/departments within the company, as assigned, and independently advises business units on matters requiring developed legal and counseling skills in one or more specified areas of expertise. Prepares drafts and final copies of legal documents and correspondence within an assigned area and within the scope of developed legal expertise. Prepares drafts of complex legal documents and correspondence as part of a project team with senior attorneys and management and modifies documents, as required. Identifies issues, conducts legal research, prepares memoranda, and advises internal clients regarding multiple issues requiring developed skills in specified areas of expertise. Negotiates and/or approves changes to legal documents requiring an intermediate level of expertise. Manages assigned projects to completion. Assists more senior attorneys and management in higher level matters, as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school Licensed to practice law by a state in the United States. 5-7 years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department. Strong transactional experience involving procurement (i.e., buyer and vendor) and customer contracts, software and content licensing, intellectual property rights and other technology matters. Excellent communications (oral and written) and negotiation skills. Must be a self-starter able to work independently or in a team environment. Outstanding computer skills to include online legal research systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other document or practice management systems.
