Corporate Counsel Responsibilities: Structure, draft, negotiate, and review complex contracts, licenses, and service agreements with Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), as well as contracts with partners, such as commercial health insurance payers, health information exchanges (HIEs), hospitals, and vendors. Monitor compliance with existing commercial relationships; provide continuing guidance to ensure that the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Develop relationships with internal business stakeholders to help maximize impact while simultaneously assessing and mitigating legal risk. Participate in the development of corporate policies, procedures, and programs. Serve as a company resource for contract-related questions and processes.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree with demonstrated success in a challenging academic program. Licensed to practice law in a state with the ability to register as a Maryland In-House Counsel. 2-5 years of experience handling transactional matters, with healthcare experience strongly preferred. Prior in-house experience a plus. Preferred: Outstanding skill in drafting and negotiating complex contract provisions. Strong business acumen, with the demonstrated ability to balance business needs and legal risks. Ability to work quickly and effectively on a variety of projects with deadline pressure and with limited supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed to build relationships with the internal team as well as outside attorneys, board members, and other senior stakeholders.
