Regulatory Staff Attorney The candidate will provide legal support for legal, regulatory and compliance matters on a broad spectrum of issues that arise under state and federal insurance and related laws, with an emphasis as to the regulation of health and accident insurance, health and managed care concepts, and insurance contracts. Will provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to counsel the company to meet business objectives through an in-depth understanding of the evolving applicable laws, rules and regulations, along with the requirements of our various business partners. Maintain ongoing subject matter expertise in relevant laws to support business objectives. Assist the General Counsel with representing the company in interactions with federal and state agencies. Pursues and maintains current knowledge of significant legislative and regulatory developments that may affect the company’s business. Communicates changes in legislation and regulation to operational areas. Provides a variety of legal counsel and support to the General Counsel and the functional and operational groups within the company. Oversees departmental workflow procedures as it relates to regulatory compliance and keeping the company up-to-date regarding state/federal regulations and compliance obligations. Drafts and reviews contracts and other materials. Researches and advises on new products and business initiatives Maintains a thorough understanding of the company’s business objectives and acts as a trusted business partner for continually informing and educating the organization as to legal/compliance matters. Responsible for regulatory compliance in varying states. JD degree is needed. Admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (additional states a plus) is advantageous. Should have 3-5 years of legal experience, either at a law firm, in house, or a combination thereof. Experience with corporate and insurance filing requirements is advantageous. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Proficient computer skills in MS office products is needed.
