Attorney IV Reporting to a Deputy General Counsel, the candidate responsible for a variety of transactional and commercial matters, including special projects. This individual must have significant experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial documents, as well as supporting disputes related to commercial matters. Experience with mergers and acquisitions, particularly in diligence of commercial transactions matters, is preferred. Responsible for all legal aspects of assigned business segments or projects. Provide proactive day-to-day advice to business segment managers and their teams on a broad range of commercial matters, including U.S. and international transactional matters with customers and vendors. Collaborate in the development of commercial strategies. Negotiate, draft, and review commercial documents for business segments. Partner with other professionals on a diverse range of matters, including technology licensing, protection of intellectual property, regulatory compliance, litigation/disputes, real property, environmental, and other matters. Foster strong relationships and transparency with all stakeholders, and developing an understanding of business segment strategies and objectives to better serve their needs; and lending support to an exciting, sophisticated, fast-paced in-house legal department at a growing aerospace company. Research legal principles and precedents. Consult with outside counsel on legal strategies on particular issues. Provide consultation to other members of the department on commercial transactional matters. Assess and develop strategies for effective risk mitigation. Undergraduate and law degrees from accredited schools required, as well as high academic standing required. Must be a current member in good standing of the state Bar or have the ability to become licensed to practice law in Kansas within 6 months of employment. 4-7 years as a licensed practicing attorney in a major law firm, with a practice focus on commercial transactions. In-house experience a plus, if subsequent to significant law firm experience required. Must: be able to work well with others as part of a team; have the ability to perform well under pressure; have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees at all levels of the company, including in communications to and with the company's executive leadership team and the Board of Directors; have excellent organizational skills and be able to perform efficiently and effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
