Legal Counsel Responsibilities : The candidate will provide legal advice to the local Management on various legal and regulatory matters, local commercial contracts (for example, including service and supply contracts) construction and real estate law matters. Negotiate, review and draft local supply and service agreements, construction and subcontractor agreements, operation and maintenance agreements, site leases and other real estate agreements. Provide advice in connection with, and develop and execute implementation of firm legal and administrative processes and standards. Support with legal and regulatory aspects under Mexican law, for example in maquila law, regulations and subsidies. Coordinate with and support the Team leader Americas and the Head of Legal Group Plants & Operations, in particular regarding review of contracts and legal documents that impact local, regional and global operations as well as assessment of legal risks. Support to Head of Legal Group Plants & Operations and Team leader Americas in definition of preventive and corrective legal strategies in different internal processes and training of personnel of different legal subjects related to their activities. Support to the local Management and the global firm Legal Department regarding the attention to demands, inspections, verification visits, requirements, summons and notifications as well as on new developments in Mexican legislation and their enforcement. Coordinate work with and monitor outside counsel in alignment with Head of Legal Group Plants & Operations and Team leader Americas

Qualification and Experience

Requirements : The candidate should have strong academic credentials including a law degree from accredited Mexican university and a current, active license to practice law in Mexico. 5 years plus of legal experience as an attorney at a top Mexican or international law firm or in-house legal department advising manufacturing and production plants and commercial enterprises; ideally some years’ experience as an in-house attorney in a multinational company. Fluent in Spanish and English. Experience in industry - automotive sector experience preferred. General commercial and technical understanding as well as knowledge of international large corporations. Sensibility for management needs and business processes and strong ability to interact effectively all levels of the organization, especially with the local management. Ability and willingness to work closely within a global organization and a multi-national legal department. Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a (virtual) team. Strong drafting and negotiating experience as well as strong analytical skills. Competent user of Microsoft Office suite of applications, especially Word and PowerPoint.
