Senior Legal Counsel, IP The candidate will provide a full range of patent support functions, including patent preparation and prosecution, patent portfolio development, freedom-to-operate analysis, rendering opinions, managing outside counsel, drafting and negotiating license, development and research collaboration agreements, due diligence support for business development and client counseling. Will regularly make presentations and interact with the business with regard to patent and contractual matters.Will counsel and represent company on patent, IP litigation, IP transactional, and licensing issues and manage claims of IP infringement at the pre-litigation stage. Also manage and handle all aspects of foreign and domestic patent prosecution. May also train and/ or advise less experienced attorneys. Must have Juris Doctorate; Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent technical experience. Should have 8+ years experience. An undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science is required. A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, admission to practice before the USPTO and licensed to practice in at least one state are required. 3 years of law firm or corporate law department experience is required. A demonstrated background in the computer and software arts, including drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the computer and software arts, is required. Experience in the rendering of patentability and non-infringement opinions is required. Experience in due diligence activities is preferred. Experience in license drafting and negotiation is a required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) is necessary.
