ProfileTrial Attorney II The candidate will provide legal representation for clients in matters of moderate importance and risk. Review and evaluate assigned cases. Prepare and try cases in all courts and agencies. Communicate with Claims and clients. Provide related legal advice and services. Work on legal matters that are moderately important, risky or complicated, representing clients in trials or hearings before courts or agencies, including appeals and arbitrations. Review and evaluate cases and lawsuits in accordance with established NTD Best Practices Guidelines. Work with client and claims to establish, communicate and implement Litigation Plan. Prepare and try cases of above average complexity and moderate exposure in all courts and agencies. Recognize, participate and promote settlement opportunities. Negotiate as authorized. Keep client and claims fully informed. Take depositions of parties and experts; obtains meaningful discovery and participates in motions practice as warranted. Perform other related duties as assigned. JD degree from an accredited law school and current license as an attorney in an appropriate U.S. jurisdiction required. 3+ years of civil litigation, trial experience and/or agency hearing representation experience required. Moderate amount of experience in an area of legal expertise required. Knowledge of applicable legal practices and procedures required. Substantive civil law/ Insurance contracts required. Excellent: written communications skills; verbal communication skills and ability to negotiate; analytical and legal skills required. Resourceful, computer savvy with a working knowledge of basic software and use of same required.
