Housing Rights Staff Attorney (Tagalog Speaking) Duties: Provide legal counseling and representation to low-income tenants and homeowners in the areas of evection defense, affordable housing preservation, mortgage fraud, and other related areas. Conduct community education and outreach especially in SOMA. Staff clinics at sites accessible to consumers. Provide technical assistance and training to community and public agencies. Represent the organization at community, legal, funding, and other meetings and functions. Assist with administrative and fundraising work of the organization.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 2+ years of litigation and/or work experience in low-income communities, seniors, recent immigrants, and/or tenants. Experience in working for low-income communities, seniors, recent immigrants, and/or tenants. Demonstrated commitment to social justice and serving underserved communities. Strong advocacy and courtroom skills representing low-income and LEP clients. Must be a member in good standing of the California Bar. Fluent in Tagalog. Ability to work independently; self-starter; detail oriented. Ability to work well in a team-oriented, multi-cultural work environment. Preferred: Experience with legal software such as Time Matters, Abacus, Essential Forms. Strong preference will be given to those who have volunteered.
