Director of Human Resources Duties: Overseeing the Company’s active leave and disability management programs and processes in accordance with all regulatory requirements.The role requires staying abreast of the regulatory compliance environment, managing employee’s requests for leave, qualifying leaves under FMLA, STD, and/or LTD, deciphering disabilities under ADA and managing the Interactive Process, administering military leaves and personal leaves etc.The role is further responsible for dashboarding all leave activity, communicating volumes, return dates etc. to managers, and keeping employees on leave appraised of certification, recertification needs and general balances of paid/unpaid time under these programs. Providing employee relations support to the organization which includes investigations, investigation outcomes, and Position Statement responses to regulatory agencies for a unionized workforce of approximately 2,800 employees operating on 2 shifts. Remaining abreast of EEO and DOL regulatory change that can have a compliance effect on Human Resources practices and processes (i.e. change or notice of new requirement under the ADA, ACA, FCRA, FMLA, etc.). Ensuring the CBA is properly administered. Reports to the Vice President of Human Resources and collaborates with other key management personnel. Will directly manage a staff which includes 2 HR Managers + staff, Clinic Manager + staff, and Leave Administrator.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources is preferred. A Law Degree with focus in Employment Law is preferred. 8-10 years of generalist experience in the Human Resources field with two of the disciplines being Employee Relations and Labor Relations. PHR/SPHR preferred. Experience working with unions and interpreting CBAs. Must have experience with compliance or audit processes and have excellent record keeping, data tracking, and dashboarding skills. Strong experience working with and writing reports from Human Capital Management (HCM) applications such as HRIS, Payroll, T&A, LMS, Performance Management, Compensation, etc. Keen understanding and promotion of Self-Service applications and environments. Ability to run reports, synthesize data, and chart data that leads management to make informed decisions regarding the HCM business. Excellent analytical, correlation, reasoning, and problem solving skills. Good judgment and ability to lead ancillary departments to better outcomes. Demonstrated ability to remain focused, prioritize work, and deliver a large output of work product on a regular basis. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure. Experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment; bilingual skills considered a plus. Ability to work with a variety of personalities in a manufacturing setting. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Self-motivated and directed. Excellent writing skills and experience responding to regulatory inquiries. Good verbal communication skills. Efficient and keen attention to detail. Strong customer service orientation, eager and able to learn, with positive attitude.
