Staff Attorney Duties: Provide legal advice and representation to survivors of domestic violence on a range of civil legal issues, including orders of protection, custody, support, housing, public benefits, employment, health, education and consumer law. Work involves close coordination with the local domestic violence services agency, as well as with the local multi-disciplinary Domestic Abuse Response Team. Focus on cases which have been identified as high-risk. Representation of low-income clients on civil legal issues.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Must be admitted to the New York State Bar. Relevant legal experience and a demonstrated commitment to working with survivors of domestic violence and low-income families and individuals, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. A practice order may be obtained for up to 18 months for law school graduates or attorneys admitted to practice in another state.
