Staff Attorney The candidate will join the Foreclosure Prevention Unit to represent homeowners facing mortgage and property tax foreclosure. Will handle Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases (including litigation regarding claims filed by mortgage companies and other creditors); file and defend lawsuits in state court (including quiet title actions, violations of the MPA, RESPA, etc.); draft deeds; request mortgage loan modifications; send notices of error to mortgage companies; negotiate tax redemption contracts with the county collections department; and perform a variety of other tasks to help homeowners save their homes. Work closely with seniors and low-income homeowners. Should be licensed to practice law in Missouri. Should also be licensed to practice in federal court, or ability to become licensed in federal court. Courtroom experience is preferred. Second language proficiency in Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, Somali or Dinka will be viewed favorably.
