ProfileNew York City office of our client seeks complex liability defense attorney with 5-7 years of experience in complex tort litigation. The candidate will support the product liability and comprehensive general liability team in defending high exposure tort claims against municipalities and other insured defendants in state courts. Will be responsible for early and ongoing evaluation of personal injury and property damage matters and recommending a course of litigation through summary judgment, ADR or trial. Conduct early stage meetings with clients to plan litigation strategy. Supervise document collection and review in furtherance of case strategy. Take and defend depositions on a regular basis. Supervise junior associates and paralegals in drafting of memoranda, pleadings, motions, etc. Draft client reports synthesizing legal issues and explaining merits and pitfalls of proposed course of litigation. Cultivate and work with medical, engineer and other expert witnesses to prepare for motions and trial. Draft complex summary judgment motions, mediation briefs and trial motions. Represent clients at courtroom appearances and ADR sessions. Participate in trials. Experience managing e-discovery a plus. Legal experience in the public sector is an asset. Trial experience is desired. Military experience is preferred. Must be admitted in New York. Admission in New Jersey or Connecticut Bars a plus.
