ProfileLegal Fellow Program Duties: Carry out research and ongoing political analysis related the organization's focus issues. Help Program Officers plan, organize, and carry out seminars, conferences, and workshops in Latin America; Maintain contact and coordinate work (including needs for technical assistance) with our local partners on issues related to the organization's focus issues; Monitor and analyze news & online media outlets for relevant information regarding relevant issues; Help draft and review letters to authorities on relevant program issues; Help Program Officer coordinate advocacy meetings with US based decision makers, including Latin American country representatives in Washington, DC, Inter-American system officials and US government representatives; Help prepare, coordinate or review Amicus Briefs and additional legal documentation in support of partner organizations; Help coordinate (including translating and/or review translations) content for the organization's institutional magazine, Web site and blog; Review and edit publications; Help draft donor project reports.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Speak and write both English and Spanish fluently. Knowledge of Portuguese is an advantage; Be a recently graduated law student; research and writing skills, and a demonstrated interest in human rights and the strengthening of the rule of law.
