ProfileFellowship, Fall 2018 The Fellow will be a fully integrated member of the legal team, assisting in the organization’s current docket of cases and helping to develop potential new cases and amicus work related to civil rights and social justice. Will participate in all aspects of legal advocacy that may arise, including discovery, depositions, the drafting of legal and amicus briefs, as well as legal strategy. Will report to the Director of Litigation and Training and will also work closely with the Executive Director.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must be entering their third year of law school or have recently graduated. Current or incoming judicial clerks are encouraged to apply. Must also be planning to sit for the California Bar Exam prior to September 2018. Must demonstrate a commitment to civil rights and social justice through relevant coursework, summer employment, externships, clinic participation, journal experience, and/or prior employment. Should be prepared to develop a project proposal related to improving access to justice, and/or a social justice issue that has the potential to be addressed through impact litigation. May apply with a project already in mind, or develop one with the legal team after sponsorship.
