Associate Attorney Duties: Responsibilities will include a wide variety of tasks associated with legal collections. Networks to create opportunities for growth. Handles and provides analysis and advice on legal and regulatory risks. Interpret laws, rulings and regulations impacting the company and advise the business.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: JD Degree from accredited law school. Licensed attorney qualified to practice law in the state of Iowa. Previous experience managing Attorneys and legal staff preferred. Background in civil litigation and experience attending court proceedings a must. Requires membership in the State Bar as an attorney qualified to practice law in the state of Iowa. Qualified candidates will have strong academic credentials, collections experience (preferred), and a willingness to work in a fast paced, high volume environment. Experience in litigation and consumer debt collection litigation desired. Experience in consumer credit and/or drafting and negotiating ideal. Strong communication skills, and a passion for collection law and commercial business litigation. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws. Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations. Advanced knowledge and thorough understanding of collection law with respect to regulatory requirements. Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. Ability to draft legal pleadings, motions, discovery, stipulations, etc. Also to write, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong analytical and basic research skills related to the retrieval and organization of high volumes of information. Strong time management skills with the proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm. Ability to engage a staff of non-attorneys.
