A legal secretary is someone who works in a secretarial or administrative capacity for an attorney or law office. Legal secretaries typically perform traditional secretarial tasks such as typing, dictation, answering the phones, and keeping track of calendars and schedules. Sometimes legal secretaries also handle matters more traditionally handled by paralegals, such as document production and preparing trial binders. A legal secretary plays a very important role in legal settings and his or her job description is often tailored to the particular attorney and practice area for which he or she works.

The candidate will provide administrative support of assigned attorney(s); arrange travel for assigned attorney(s)(includes scheduling transportation and making hotel reservations); answer telephones for assigned attorney(s)/paralegal(s); and produce legal documents such as correspondence, pleadings, briefs, opinions, complaints, administrative decisions, orders and subpoenas from verbal or written instructions, dictation, notes, rough drafts or other materials which may be difficult to interpret and/or format. proofread and correct prepared materials for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, syntax and content. Input, retrieve and update information using computerized databases. Prepare trial notebooks and exhibit listings. Must have excellent software skills and 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in a large firm. Should have a background in litigation, corporate, or intellectual property law.

The candidate will handle mostly document production, large mailings and time entry work. Should have 5+ years of real estate experience. Must have exceptional word and typing skills (70 wpm). Good shorthand skills are a plus.
