Construction Paralegal Job Description

'A construction paralegal is a paralegal who works in the area of construction law. Some construction paralegals assist attorneys who handle construction-related lawsuits involving things like structural failures, construction defects, and environmental hazards. Other construction paralegals assist attorneys who handle the regulatory and corporate side of construction law, such as drafting construction contracts and bid documentation. Because construction paralegals are not attorneys and have not been admitted to the bars of any state, construction paralegals must always work under the direction of a practicing attorney.

Construction Paralegal

Duties: Drafts, revises, and assembles contracts. Assists the General Counsel with corporate matter, or contract issues. Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the company. Provide legal information for prequalification applications and proposals. Write letters, pleadings, and forms with oversight from General Counsel. Obtain backup documentation and information, in partnership with project teams. Gather and organize evidence, information, and stories for matters as assigned by the General Counsel. Researching and organizing documents, interviewing witnesses, analyzing data, and preparing chronologies and narratives. Use technical knowledge and experience to evaluate documents and prepare presentation material related to construction claims. Draft, track, and process owner contracts, GMP agreements, and principle designer agreements from proposal through execution and distribution. Manage and develop responses to subpoenas and document discovery. Train and coach project teams and individuals in legal processes, policies and procedures. Coordinate and participate in special legal projects. Lead and/or participate in project strategy meetings that relate to contract issues. Review and assist project teams and Purchasing in the negotiation of subcontracts and purchase orders.
Qualifications: A college degree and 5 years of experience in construction management, engineering, or corporate or construction legal support. Excellent written communication skills are required, must possess strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrate good judgment about prioritizing the completion of multiple responsibilities, familiarity with legal concepts relevant to the construction industry or to an in-house corporate legal practice, legal processes, systems and rules, or the interest and ability to learn, ability to read and interpret schedules, contract drawings, and specifications is preferred, in addition to working within the legal Rules of Professional Conduct. Construction scheduling and claims experience is a plus.

Construction Paralegal

The candidate will assist with complex litigation. Must have experience with document management software, and thorough knowledge of MS Office. Should have: Paralegal Certificate preferred; 4+ years' experience; Experience with factual research, document analysis, filings, drafting documents, coordinating document production; Familiarity with, understanding of, and ability to work with attorneys on construction matters.

Construction Paralegal

The candidate will involve assisting the construction team on a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters with a focus on non-contentious. Will be assisting with bundling, drafting, administration and a variety of ad hoc projects. Must have a strong academic background, including a completed LPC, as well as experience in the construction department of a well-regarded firm or in-house legal team.

Construction Paralegal

The candidate will be joining the Litigation team and they are recognised as one of the best in field with experts managing very large scale projects and disputes. Will be handling management of administration of large portfolios, supporting fee earners on both contentious and non-contentious Construction matters. Graduates with an LPC or ILEx with 1 - 2 years of work experience will also be considered. Must have knowledge of contentious and non-contentious will be at an advantage. Must be an experienced Paralegal or Legal Assistant who has prerequisite experience in Construction and is now looking for that 'next step' in terms of career progression and development.

Property/Construction Paralegal

The candidate will join Property and Construction team. Must have outstanding academics, including a minimum of a 'Commendation' in LPC, together with a wealth of experience in the Property and/or Construction field.
Note: The candidate will be joining on a 12 month contract, successful completion of which would lead to a Training Contract.

Construction Paralegal

The candidate should have 1+ years of experience in either Contentious or Non-Contentious Construction and Engineering matters gained within a respected firm.

Construction Paralegal

The candidate will be entering into a busy and very demanding Construction department. Will involve compiling legal research, assisting with internal and external training on Health and Safety Law, developing Health and Safety profiles and assisting the fee earners running files. Must previously study the law degree having obtained a 2:1 or higher. Should have completed masters. Previous Construction experience within a law firm for 1+ year is needed.
Note: This is a 3+ month FTC.'
