There are more Web sites today than, well, Web sites yesterday. Growing at a rate only known to kudzu,1 the Web has furnished paralegals with an unbelievable wealth of information. Here are just a few Web sites2 we have found that may assist you in your job search or even in your job. Use these Web sites to gather information about the legal field. Write and ask these vendors if they can use a paralegal with your skills. Remember that many of the vendors listed like to hire paralegals. Even though job listings may not appear on their Web site, you can also track down the hiring authority.

WARNING!!! Be forewarned that once you sign up for these services, you’ll most likely experience an onslaught of advertisements, newsletters, listings, messages, and solicitations. Some have been known to generate up to thirty or forty per day! Also, things have a way of rapidly changing since the print date of books. Some services may now charge a fee or may have changed entirely. Of course, the Web sites were valid as of this writing, but like any other service, it’s only as good as its volume of subscribers.

The following services and vendors were picked at random.

Web Sites

There are over 40,000 job boards reported active at this writing. In the recent dot com shakeout, some have been merged, some purged and some downright obliterated. The sites come and go so quickly that from the time we wrote this book until its first edit, many of the sites disappeared. We offer only a few sites picked at random. The best thing to do for an on-line job search is to get on the search engines and type in “paralegal jobs,” “paralegal education” or just “paralegal” and check out what comes up.
