Career Services Office at the UDM School of Law

As the Assistant Dean of Career Services and Outreach, Markeisha J. Miner supervises all matters connected to both career planning and professional development. She has been with UDM School of Law since 2008.

Miner graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a BA in African/African American Studies, with a concentration on history and politics. After earning her JD at the University of Michigan Law School, she served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Anna Diggs Taylor on the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. She then joined Dickinson Wright PLLC's Detroit office, where she practiced as a commercial litigator. While with Dickinson Wright, she served as one of the initial members of the Diversity Committee and assisted in creating the firm's Diversity Mission Statement.


She is currently a member of the American Bar Association's Tort, Trial & Insurance Practice Section; the State Bar of Michigan's Character & Fitness Committee; the Wolverine Bar Association; and the NALP- the Association for Legal Career Professionals' Diversity, Newer Professionals, and Solo & Small CSO Sections. Additionally, Miner is on the Board of Directors for the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation and Alternatives for Girls.

The Director of Career Services and Outreach, Greta M. Tackebury, works with students and alumni to establish career goals and to develop effective job search strategies. She works closely with students who are interested in judicial clerkships or pursuing employment in the public sector. Additionally, Tackebury functions as a faculty coach for the McGee Civil Rights Moot Court Team.

After graduating from Michigan State University-James Madison College with a BA with honors in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy, Tackebury spent time as a project assistant and paralegal at both Jenner & Block and Freeborn & Peters. After graduating from the University of Minnesota Law School, cum laude, she joined Bryan Cave LLP in Phoenix, Arizona, where she practiced commercial litigation and bankruptcy. Eventually she moved back to Michigan and took on employment as an associate within Clark Hill LLP's litigation and eminent domain practice groups. Just before joining UDM School of Law in 2008, she clerked for Michigan Supreme Court Justice Maura Corrigan. Tackebury is a member of the Michigan State Bar, the Arizona State Bar, and the NALP.

Dorothy Cooper, the Program Coordinator for the Office of Career Services, works closely with employers to address their needs and concerns, organizes the law school's On-Campus Interview Programs, and collects statistical employment data. She also acts as the liaison between the law school's French Scholar Program and the Universite d'Auvergne at Clermont Ferrand.

Cooper joined UDM Law in 1991, after interning at the United State Justice Department for the Eastern District of Michigan/Criminal Division and at Berg and McQueen PLC in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She graduated, magna cum laude, with a BA in the Paralegal/Legal Administration Program from the University of Detroit Mercy. She recently became the first law school associate to receive the Detroit Mercy Commitment to Excellence Award. She is currently a member of Kappa Gamma Pi, the national Catholic University Honor Society, and Detroit Synergy.
