Corrigan holds a B.A. degree from Rice University and a law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law. He functions as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center and is a recognized speaker on a number of health law
regulatory matters. Corrigan was the chair of the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Texas from 2006-2007 and has been named as one of the ''Best Lawyers in America'' in Healthcare Law since 2000.

As an active community volunteer, Corrigan has been associated with the Friends of MHMRA of Harris County, Good Neighbor Healthcare Center, and Houston Dynamo Charities. Friends of MHMRA is an organization that provides assistance and services to residents of Harris County who suffer from severe mental illness or cognitive and developmental disabilities. The Good Neighbor Healthcare Center is a Houston organization that supports people from every zip code in Harris County by providing health and dental care to the needy. Houston Dynamo Charities serves to improve lives through programs and initiatives. Major focuses of the group include the education of children, parents, and teachers on the topics of physical and mental health and creating an awareness of environmental concerns.
