Bailey graduated cum laude from Harvard and is a graduate from the University of Virginia School of Law. He has spent part of his career as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Massachusetts District. Further, he has worked as a prosecutor in the homicide, drug and sex crimes unit of Middlesex County and as a felony prosecutor for the Manhattan District Attorney's office. His accomplishments are considerable and his contributions to the legal field significant in every manner.
In 2004, 2006 and 2007, Bailey was named one of Boston Magazine's ''Super Lawyers'' and in 2007, he also received the prestigious ''New England Super Lawyer'' award. This incredibly busy attorney was also profiled by CBS Television's Eye on America by Dan Rather and was also named an ''Outstanding Prosecutor'' while employed with the U.S. Attorney's Office.
So what is it about this diverse, educated and well rounded attorney? He says it best, ''As a state and federal prosecutor, I was trained to think inside the box, to routinely place things within the context of office policy and legal precedent. Now, as an experienced criminal defense attorney handling difficult and sophisticated cases, I am motivated and driven to think outside the box and to consistently try to take my cases places where no defense attorney has thought of going''. Clearly, he has met his own challenge, as evidenced by his many awards and happy (and growing) list of clients.
Bailey is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, New York, the United States District Court of Massachusetts and the US Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit. Further, he has been admitted pro hac vice in New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, Wisconsin, Arizona and California.
While his focus is on criminal law these days, he has also found time to serve on the Governor's Commission on Sexual and Domestic Violence. This impressive accolade has allowed for significant progress to be made in domestic issues that affect men, women and children throughout the country.
