The practice of Law is very vast. Here are some of the major areas of the legal practice that can make good law jobs and better law careers to any law graduates.
Criminal or Penal Law Jobs
This is one of the common major areas of legal practice since many people fail to comply with the rules of different jurisdictions. Typical cases are murder, rape, and robbery.
Family Law Jobs
In a day, a lot of domestic relations and family related issues can arise. It includes issues arising from marriage such as adoption, child abuse, surrogacy, legitimacy and spousal abuse and issues arising from ancillary matters and the termination of a relationship such as divorce, annulment, alimony, property settings and parental responsibility.
Health Law Jobs
Health related cases are also common these days. Lawyers working in this area of practice deal with cases affecting the health care industry, application to providers, patients, and the delivery of health care services.
Public Health Law Jobs
Public health law jobs are somewhat similar to health law jobs but focus more on legal issues of the public health practice.
Elder Law Jobs
This area of legal practice places an emphasis on cases that affects the growing aging population.
Immigration Law Jobs
Lawyers practicing on this area deal with the national government policies, which are used in order to control immigration to their country. This law varies from country to country but generally focuses on the legal status of the people and citizenship.
Labor Law Jobs
Labor or employment law jobs are for those lawyers who are responsible in addressing the legal rights of working people and organizations. They also mediate some of the portions of the relationship between the employees, employers, and trade unions.
Civil Law Jobs
As opposed to the criminal law, civil law deals with disputes between organizations and individuals. This area of legal practice needs more lawyers because hundreds of incidences happen in a day that needs the assistance of the lawyers in order to solve the case.
Commercial or Business Law Jobs

Water Law Jobs
This area of practice is related to property law responsibilities in the sense that it deals with control, ownership, and use of water as a resource, but is more influenced by the environmental law.
Entertainment Law Jobs
Entertainment law is also referred to as media law and focuses on providing legal services with regards to the entertainment industry. The practice of this major area involves intellectual property such as copyright and trademarks.

Lawyers working with the government concentrate in the Department of Defense, Treasury and Justice, while those working outside the government are employed as house counsel by insurance companies, manufacturing firms, public utilities, real estate agencies and banks. A small number of lawyers work in law schools as faculty members and administrators.

The growth in the level of business activity and population is expected to create more civil disputes, legal transactions, and criminal cases. There is also an expected increase of demands in areas of legal services such as intellectual property, energy, health care, venture capital, antitrust, environmental law, and elderly. In addition, the wider affordability and availability of legal clinics are also expected to result in increased use of legal services by people especially the middle-income. Also, employment opportunities will continue to rise in growing organizations of all major countries in the world. This will give future lawyers more law opportunities to enhance and practice their law careers.
