OneBeacon Insurance hires Brad Rich as GC
OneBeacon Insurance Group Ltd. recently hired Bradford Rich as general counsel and senior vice president. Rich was asked to join the company immediately and will report to CEO Mike Miller. He will manage all SEC, government relations, and corporate legal activities for the firm and has worked in the legal field for 34 years. Rich earlier served as general counsel for USAA and ACE Ltd. He graduated with honors from Denison University and the National Law Center at George Washington University.

Gaede appointed GC and VP for BE&K
Birmingham, AL-based construction and engineering company BE&K Inc. has made H. "Nick" Gaede Jr. its general counsel and vice president. Gaede formerly worked for Bradley, Arant, Rose & White, LLP's construction practice group. In his new post, Gaede will oversee BE&K's and its subsidiaries' legal, risk management, and security matters. He is currently the chair of the Appleseed Center for Law and Justice and the Birmingham Committee on Foreign Relations.

Wendy Shiba joins KB Home as GC, executive VP, and corporate secretary
Wendy Shiba has joined KB Home, one of the largest homebuilders in the nation, as general counsel. Shiba will also serve as the company's executive vice president and corporate secretary. In her new posts, she will manage all legal activities pertaining to the firm's national operations. Shiba formerly served Ohio-based PolyOne Corp., a leading global provider of specialized polymer materials, services, and solutions, as senior vice president, chief legal officer, and secretary. She also received the 2007 YWCA Women of Achievement Award.
