Corporate Legal Assistant Job Description

'A corporate legal assistant is someone who works on corporate and transactional matters under the supervision of licensed attorneys. Corporate legal assistants do not practice law, as they are not licensed attorneys, but they help in many aspects of corporate transactions, including preparing initial drafts of various contracts, corporate filings and closing binders. Corporate legal assistants (also called corporate paralegals) generally work in office buildings and do not go to court.

Intermediate- level Corporate Legal Assistant

The candidate will prepare a wide range of agreements and correspondence following lawyer's and clients' instructions, coordinate travel, and prepare client accounts. Should have 5+ years of experience. Strong communication, dicta-typing, and MS Office skills are required.

Corporate Legal Assistant

The candidate duties will include, calendar management, travel coordination, organization, frequent client communication, time entry, preparing and editing documents, engagement letters, etc. Must have prior experience in a similar role either in a law or in an in-house legal department. Strong time management, ability to communicate efficiently with firm members and clients, maintain confidentiality, strong MS Office skills, and hold a college degree.

Temporary Corporate Legal Assistant

The candidate will support Corporate/Business group. Will assist on document management; drafting, proofing, and editing legal documents and correspondence; calendaring deadlines; maintaining electronic and hardcopy files; and engaging in client contact. Must have the following: document management experience (NetDocs experience is a plus). Should have 3+ years of Corporate or Business Law experience. Must have knowledge of State and Federal court rules and procedures; an ability to communicate, organize and prioritize; and proficiency in MS Office 2013.

Corporate Legal Assistant

The candidate will be responsible for providing legal administrative and clerical support to the lawyers in the Corporate Commercial area. Will serve in the preparation of corporate legal documents, corporate filings and registrations, updating/maintaining Minute Books, drafting letters, document assembly, dealing with mail/courier, occasionally answering main phone line, opening and closing files, time entries, client correspondence, booking appointments, client interaction, account billing, interface with Calgary head office on issues or matters as required, daily filing, file management an oversight and general office administrative tasks given from time to time.  

The candidate should have Post-secondary diploma or certificate in accredited legal assistant or paralegal program and/or successful career history in the role of a corporate paralegal assistant will be considered. Experience, knowledge and sensitivity to First Nations issues and people is an asset. Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint essential. Experience or knowledge of Amicus and PC Law would be an asset. 

Corporate Legal Assistant

The candidate should have solid corporate experience in private practice. Must have excellent academics, an LL.B. and an LPC degree. Must have 6 months of experience in the corporate department in another law firm.

Corporate Legal Assistant

The candidate should have 4+ years of corporate experience and must have experience editing, formatting, and comparing lengthy legal documents along with handling closing preparations. Must have a strong administrative background - heavy client contact, time and billing for attorneys, and scheduling/calendar management. Strong communication skills and attention to detail is a must.

Intermediate Real Estate/Corporate Legal Assistant

The candidate will join firm's Corporate Commercial/Real Estate department. Should have LAA certification from an accredited institution. Must have 5+ years' of working real estate experience. Experience in commercial lending and leasing would be deemed a major asset. Must have familiarity with PPSA and LTSA. Strong client service skills is required.'
