Increasing trend of office automation and organizational restructuring have given the secretaries an opportunity to handle responsibilities once reserved for managerial and professional staff. Beyond the usual filing, typing, dictation and phone-answering duties of the secretary, legal secretaries possess specialized skills unique to the legal profession. The Bankruptcy Legal Secretaries have the opportunity to assist attorneys in various areas including bankruptcy, collections, asset recovery and creditor’s rights-based civil litigation. May also be responsible for drafting legal creditor Bankruptcy pleadings for Bankruptcy Courts. They work along with attorneys in preparing for commercial and consumer bankruptcy cases. Detailed understanding of the Bankruptcy Court filing procedures, as well as e-filing is an essential condition to be successful. Knowledge of commercial litigation is a definite plus. Creditor Bankruptcy knowledge may be preferred. Mortgage Banking knowledge is also a plus. Proficiency with MS Office applications and a minimum typing speed of 55 wpm are required. Excellent communication and organization skills and attention to detail are a must. Ability to remain well organized in a fast paced environment is absolutely essential. Great communication skills and a positive attitude are all required.
