Employment Legal Secretary Jobs Professionals, performing secretarial functions for attorneys working in the area of employment/labor law are known as Employment Legal Secretaries. They are responsible for preparing legal documents and/or general correspondence from handwritten, dictation or printed copy and maintaining files and calendars. Their duties include producing documents using various computer programs, drafting basic documents, organising meetings, travel and hotel arrangements for attorneys, and receiving clients. Employment Legal Secretaries, also perform secretarial duties such as managing paper and electronic filings, liaising with clients, and copying Court bundles as well as preparing indexes. They may perform clerical work such as handling mails/emails/faxes, arranging couriers, making file copies, scheduling appointments and making travel arrangements for attorneys. An employment legal secretary may have litigation knowledge to work in the area of contentious employment or worker’s compensation. Individual should have some knowledge or experience of employment law matters. Proficiency in research and analysis is required. Knowledge of labor and employment law with familiarity of legal terminology, state and federal court filing rules, and law office protocol are basic requirements. Good drafting and proofreading skills are required. Excellent communication and organizational skills are always important. Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with excellent typing skills are required to be successful.
