Bilingual Legal Secretary Jobs Legal Secretaries assist attorneys by performing a range of administrative and clerical duties, essential to run an organization efficiently. They serve as information and communication managers for an office; plan and schedule meetings and appointments; organize and maintain paper and electronic files; manage projects; conduct research; and disseminate information by using the telephone, mail services, Web sites, and e-mail. They also may handle travel and guest arrangements. Bilingual legal secretaries may be hired by a law firm, public interest firm, court, bar, educational institute, in-house legal department of a company, or the federal government. Fluency in English and one or more languages from French, Spanish, German, Russian, Arabic, Italian, or any other foreign language is essential. Prior experience gained from a bilingual legal role is surely an advantage. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are absolutely essential to be successful in this field. Familiarity with MS Word and Excel may be required. Secretaries must also be well versed with the use of variety of office equipment, such as fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, and videoconferencing and telephone systems.
