Patent Law Jobs A patent is generally issued to legally protect unique design, process or new product ideas. The aim of getting a patent protection is to preserve the financial and other rights of the inventors. Patent law provides protections to the owner of a patent that prohibit others from copying or otherwise using their patented processes or designs for a period of years. The usage of patented property in an unauthorized fashion permits the patent holder to sue for damages and injunctive relief. Patent Attorneys help the clients to get exclusive rights over their inventions from the Government. They assist clients before the Patent Office, in obtaining patents, including drafting an application and negotiating with patent examiners (engineers or scientists) on the scope of patent protection that is warranted, and also enforcing/defending against the enforcement of patent rights. A bachelor\\\'s degree in engineering or science is sufficient, however, high-level technical/legal writing skills are a must as all communication between an attorney and an examiner is done in writing. Registration with Patent Office is mandatory along with admission to any State or Territory Bar, in order to be considered as a Patent Attorney.
