Civil Attorney Jobs
A Civil Law Attorney is hired by the plaintiff (injured party) against the defendant (alleged wrongdoer). All law that is not criminal is civil law and is divided into two branches: Contract Law and Tort Law. The parties in a civil case may be individuals, business or government entities itself. The civil law attorneys litigate law suits in civil courts and financial compensation is the final result usually. The attorneys handle lawsuits involving personal injuries, business disputes, land deals, libel and slander, and various other commercial interests. In a civil case, attorneys try to prove the defendant guilty on the basis of \\\"balance of probabilities\\\" unlike in criminal case, where the attorney has to prove the defendant guilty ?beyond a reasonable doubt.?
A person who wants to start a career as a civil attorney should have a J.D. degree along with State Bar registration. J.D. degree can be obtained after three years of full time or four years of part-time study. Proficiency in writing and speaking, reading, researching, analyzing, and thinking logically skills are essential to succeed in this area.
