The firm offers competitive bonuses to lawyers who join the firm following clerkships. It provides class credit plus $15,000 to those who clerk at federal district courts, class credit plus $20,000 to those who clerk on the United States Court of Appeals, and class credit plus $50,000 to Supreme Court clerks. Reed Smith also provides class-year credit and $10,000 to those who clerk at the highest court in any state or the District of Columbia. Compensation also includes a $7,000 stipend; a $5,000 bonus to first year associates that reach 1,900 charge hours; paid bar review course, bar exam, and MPRE fees; relocation expenses; and additional bonuses for eligible associates.
