In order to be considered for an associate position, candidates are required to be among the top 25% of their classes. In addition, Phelps Dunbar gives preference to candidates with moot court or law review experience. The firm is also seeking experienced attorneys with the talent, dedication, and skills to advance their legal careers in a diverse and dynamic workplace.
Summer Associate Program
The firm seeks bright and motivated students with exceptional academic records and multiple interests. Law students from among the top 25% of their classes and with hands-on experience in law review or moot court are preferred.

The firm has a bonus program that affords associates the opportunity to earn up to an additional 20% of their salary. Participation in the firm’s 401(k) deferred-compensation program is offered to associates on the first of the month after their start date.
