Recession Driven Changes May Be Permanent, But LawCrossing Finds 30,000 Attorney Job Openings

Pasadena, CA - The legal sector has undergone some structural changes brought on by the recession that are likely to become permanent according to a recent report by Altman Weil. However, this does not mean that there are not enough attorney jobs according to data from LawCrossing.com Legal jobs website LawCrossing.com has been able to track down almost 30,000 attorney job openings as of May 27. The Altman Weil survey mentions that most Am Law firm leaders believe that the discounted prices offered by them during the recession is something that they will not be able to reverse as clients will continue to expect cheaper prices. They also believe that they will continue to face increased competition from outsourcing companies and the shifts to the non-hourly billing structures will continue. LawCrossing CEO Harrison Barnes says that despite the continuing changes in the structure of the legal industry; there are still plenty of attorney jobs for both entry-level attorneys and senior associates. Litigation continues to be the practice area with the highest number of job openings with almost 6,000 job openings. The other two hot practice areas are intellectual property and corporate areas with around 5,000 job openings in each of them.
