LawCrossing.com Finds 57,000 Jobs in Legal Industry Despite a Slow Hiring Month
March 13, 2013
March 13, 2013 — Pasadena, California — The latest jobs report shows that the legal sector saw a slight slowdown in terms of hiring. The February jobs report says that the legal industry added only 200 net jobs.

LawCrossing.com, which focuses only on legal industry jobs, has been able to find 57,000 job openings as of March 13. A positive sign for the legal industry is that it employs 5,000 more people than it did a year ago. The total number of people employed now stands at 1.125 million, which is still 50,000 employees short of the pre-recession peak in 2007.

The job openings on LawCrossing.com also show that while the job openings have not reached their pre-recession levels, there are still thousands of jobs across the country. LawCrossing.com CEO Harrison Barnes says that this is because even though the figure for the net jobs created may not be high, there are always vacancies among the nation’s law firms and legal departments in organizations.

He adds, “The reason that we keep showing so many job openings is that we keep tracking all the major and minor law firms across the country and the other organizations that employ attorneys and other legal staff. And our researchers have shown that even in this market there are still plenty of legal jobs."

The site has been able to track down 3,042 law student job openings, 579 judicial clerkships and 990 summer associate positions. There are 29,000 attorney jobs and another 1,366 are partner opportunities. There are also 12,921 legal staff job listings on the site.
