Chapman University School of Law provides a shared, customized and thorough legal education. Chapman is known for having one of the best faculty/student ratios among ABA-approved law schools with smaller class sizes and wider access to faculty, both in and out of the classroom.

Chapman gives practical skills training for all students, in both proceedings and legal transactions. Chapman provides many clinical programs, externships and labs. Students also get opportunities to contribute in legal journals and award-winning competitions.

Requirements Details
Eligibility Students who do not hold a J.D. or LL.M. degree from an American law school must finish a course on Introduction to American Law, designed especially for LL.M. students and delivered by the Director of Graduate Studies, complemented by the inclusion of other Chapman faculty and staff. Depending on the decision of the LL.M. admissions committee, students may also be obligated to undergo training in legal writing, legal and professional English, and/or legal research.
Transcripts Transcripts are required to be mailed to the address above by the institution(s) the applicant has attended.
Letters of Recommendation Two (2) Letters of Reference
Personal Statement A personal declaration is needed defining the applicant's grounding, motivation, and aims for graduate study.
Proof of Competency in English Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The suggested score for the TOEFL is 100 on the Internet-based test (TOEFL-iBt). The suggested score for the IELTS is 7.0.

Application Procedure/Time to apply/Application deadline Admission is assessed on a continuing basis. Early submission of application will lead to a sooner decision. The priority limit for admissions is March 1, whereas June 30 is the last deadline.
LL.M. Degree Requirements Twenty-four (24) units of credit are needed to earn the LL.M. degree (27 units for LL.M. in Taxation). Full-time students may register for a minimum of nine (9) and a maximum of fourteen (14) units every semester. To get financial assistance, a student should be enrolled in a minimum of five (5) units each semester. Degree requirements must be culminated inside four (4) years.

The Chapman University School of Law provides an LL.M degree in taxation with broad coursework that render students with a wide array of specialized tax and estate planning courses. LL.M. Scholarships are honored after admissions. Students awarded an education scholarship upon admission to the LL.M. program may utilize their tuition scholarship for up to 27 units in the tax LL.M. or 24 units in all other LL.M. programs. Students are required to maintain good candidature to sustain their scholarship.

Career Development/Services Offered


Practice is the best teacher for winning in the interview processes. Mock interview programs are offered throughout the fall and spring semesters to equip all students with the opportunity to hone their interviewing skills. These mock interviews are performed by practicing attorneys, giving the students precious feedback and guidance. Student participation is strongly encouraged in this program.

The Career Services Office provides a Mentor Program for all first-year law students who seek personal assistance from professional attorneys. Involvement in this program is the finest way to commence or strengthen the student's professional connections. Further information for the mentor program and how to participate in the same is disseminated to the students during the spring semester.
