San Francisco office seeks Entry-level Patent Tax Assistant with IP patent experience (legal secretary, case assistant, foreign filing, or docketing experience). The candidate will be responsible for timely docketing and undocketing of annuity and maintenance fee due dates. Track and prepare reminders for clients. Provide payment instructions to annuity payment service, foreign associates, and the USPTO. Analyze annuity and maintenance fee data. Analyze and approve payment reports and invoices. Ensure quality assurance protocols for data integrity and 2nd eye review. Conduct audits to ensure accuracy of data entered. Create reports and provide fee estimates in response to attorney/client requests. Document special client instructions in Client Procedure memos. Communicate and follow-up with attorneys, clients and foreign associates regarding payment instructions and/or inquiries. Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, editing and proofreading abilities required. Should have an ability to handle a large volume of work and meet deadlines, strong organizational skills and effective time management. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Working knowledge of Windows-based software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat required. Bachelor's degree and experience with US and foreign patent office Web sites preferred. Knowledge of IP rules in national and international patent and trademark markets and working knowledge of docket database systems: IP Manager and Dennemeyer preferred.
